Community Conversations NI

Mission Accomplished

We successfully completed our community conversations initiative which has been very helpful in identifying the key issues affecting participating individuals and organisations.

We will compile our findings and disseminate information early 2021

A virtual community forum which facilitates dialogue around local area issues for excluded community activists, projects and organisations

We plan to compile these conversations into a research paper which documents the levels of exclusion from funding and community development experienced by grass-roots activists and projects across Northern Ireland since the implementation of the ‘Peace Process’. The aim is to raise awareness and discussion about the lack of capacity and positive engagement from non-Irish Nationalist communities in the current peace process strategy

To ensure we reach unheard, ignored and under-represented voices in those communities we will invite presentations and participants based on their experiences of exclusion

ConnectivityNI

One key issue emerging from our recent Community Conversations is the need for ‘Our Own Media Outlet’. Therefore, we are providing capacity to develop an online Radio/WebTV channel which promotes and highlights issues affecting marginalised community organisations across Northern Ireland.

Facilitation of discussion for local groups with no access to resources, ignored by funders or lacking community development capacity. Why does Rathcoole still not have proper community facilities after 60 years of deprivation? Here is a community video document of the area in 1992….. while the physical state of the estate has been developed, there are still NO community facilities in Rathcoole since its establishment in 1960’s.

Thanks to everyone who attended the online event, we will publish a summary of our findings shortly!
